FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

* UPDATED... January 21, 2013

:pokeball: GENERAL :pokeball:

:bulletred: What is PKMN-Crossing about?
:bulletwhite: #PKMN-Crossing is an idea =Cyanide-Tea came up with to combine both the Poke'mon and Animal Crossing games and their worlds together. Instead of meeting anthropomorphic animals like Animal Crossing implies, you'll be interacting with other members as anthropomorphic pokemon, and maybe even a few humans who have moved into town

:bulletred: What can I do in this group?
:bulletwhite: In this group you can role play, create art, write stories, participate in chat/drawing events, contests, make friends with other members, and much more! You can help to improve the town you live in, which will reflect the changes on the Town Map. It is sort of like an interactive land in a way, just like the actual Animal Crossing games. Mainly have fun, this is why this group was made

:bulletred: I'm more of a roleplayer/writer than a artist, is it still okay if I join? Will I be kicked in the future for inactivity?
:bulletwhite: We can respect this and you'll be more than welcomed to try out for the group... as long as you just fill out the application sheet. Yes, this does mean you have to draw your resident image. Please try your best. We do not judge art skill. Just don't think we'll let you get away with tracing/stealing an art image
Will you be kicked for inactivity? No. We try to keep tabs on who our active roleplayers are and count that as group activity, because you're interacting with other members of the group. We can easily check your RP activity if you join the PKMC Forums as a member. We would appreciate if you send in a doodle every now and then though

:bulletred: Is this ANOTHER gijinka group?
:bulletwhite: No, it's not! There are many pokemon gijinka groups, but never enough love for anthros. PKMN-Crossing plays in key with the Animal Crossing games and all residents will either be anthro or human. Humans will be less commonly accepted

:bulletred: Does the group run on a specific timezone?
:bulletwhite: Yes, we do run on a specific timezone for most activities. Most events are set to end at a certain time in eastern USA time; EST or -6 GMT to be precise. If you do not know what timezone this is or how it affects you, please use a timezone converter to figure out the time difference. Other than that, no. We do not run on any specific time in roleplays or the like, unless it is a special occasion

:bulletred: Why is this a private group?
:bulletwhite: DA states that groups are allowed to do as they please with their own rules and DA's rules in tow. This group needs to be private, as it has had one too many problems and troublemakers in it's ranks that caused a multitude of drama in the past. While we wish this had never happened in the first place, it did. We decided it best to go private so we could sift out and invite whoever meets our requirements into the group to better control and manage what goes on

:bulletred: When will there be another public opening?
:bulletwhite: Not for a very long time. This is because during the Summer 2012 opening, many joiness who were not accepted became angered, incredibly rude, and malicious towards the group and it's moderators. We are not willing to go through such a horrid experience again, and have no interest in opening for public joinings because of that event

:bulletred: Can we choose to live wherever we want on the Town Map?
:bulletwhite: Yes. Group members are allowed to choose any acre they want to live in so long as it is available. There is no limit of so many people to an acre. If want to be roommates with someone, all you have to say is that you're living in this acre with so-and-so. Please do not take the actual scaling of the map literally: it's just a map to show the locations of important establishments

:bulletred: What are Bells? How do we earn them? What do we do with them?
:bulletwhite: Bells is the type of currency used in the Animal Crossing games. You earn Bells by drawing art, participating in events, contests, and so on. They are used in the group to help improve the town and unlock mysteries around it, which is a big plot! You can donate your Bells to the Town Improvement Fund blog to make the town a better place for everyone! Or use them to buy your resident a evolution item if it is needed. In role play Bells can be used for whatever you like. You may have as much or as little as you choose

:bulletred: I'm a member of PKMC and wish to join the forums. How do I join?
:bulletwhite: Click the link provided on our Bulletin Board blog. You will need to register with the site in order to join the PKMC forums. In order to be accepted as a member there, you must sign up and join with your DA username (no hyphens or other fancy things are accepted, so just merge your username together if you have a - in it) when you send in your member request. Any other usernames other than your DA name will be denied and banned. Once you're accepted, you are free to change your display name on the forums to whatever you like. Have fun with other members at your own pace without the rush of the chat rooms here on dA

:bulletred: There is someone who is breaking the rules of the group and it's bothering me/other members. How do I report the offender?
:bulletwhite: Send a note to the GROUP (not a moderator's personal account, as it will be ignored) and we will try to assist you ASAP. We ask that you provided screenshots or a link of the issue, else we cannot help you without proper proof; unless there are multiple reports on the matter at hand. Do not be afraid to report others who are breaking the rules. All names are kept private and will not be revealed. We value your privacy and cooperation in helping us. If we don't know about the issue, we can't help you in any way

:bulletred: Are you looking for group Mods?
:bulletwhite: No. The founder has chosen the mods needed to help run the group and get the job done. If there is a need for a new mod, the group founder and other mods will decide privately

:bulletred: I have a question about [insert info] that isn't on the FAQ. Where can I ask?
:bulletwhite: Ask on the FAQ blog, the group's front page, or note the group. It's okay if you have questions that need answering, especially if they aren't here on this blog. If it's an important or often brought up question, we'll add it to this blog for others to see

:pokeball: ABOUT JOINING & CHARACTER CREATION :pokeball:

:bulletred: How do I join the group if it's private?
:bulletwhite: Read the Group Rules blog for more information

:bulletred: How do I get recommended or recommend someone to be invited as a member?
:bulletwhite: If you're looking to get recommended, you'll have to have a current PKMC member do that for you. This doesn't give you grounds to hunt down a member and harass them! They have to be willing of their own accord. If they let us know you're harassing and harking at them continuously even if they have told you no, we can ban you from the group
If you're a member and want to recommend someone, send a note to the group. You'll need to include their username, a link to the application, and at least a paragraph explaining why you think this person would make a great new member. We prefer if you actually know the person you're referring, rather than have someone you do not know ask out of the blue

:bulletred: Do I have to be a certain age on DA to join the group?
:bulletwhite: You must be at a minimum of 5 months old here on DA in order to be considered. 5 months is plenty of time to at least get down the basics of how things work on dA. If you're anything below that you will not be accepted. Trying to "add" time to your current account by saying you moved accounts, got hacked, etc. and if you may use that past account's time towards your new one lowers our opinion of you. We view it as trying to cheat your way into the group

:bulletred: I am sharing a dA account with someone else. Can I still join the group?
:bulletwhite: No. We do not allow dA accounts that are shared by multiple people, as it causes trouble for both us and the account owners. The account must be owned solely by you

:bulletred: How will you be accepting applications?
:bulletwhite: We do a selection process of character design, history, and your reason for joining. We like to see variety, and take interest in this the most. We prefer characters made with thought and care rather than having it rushed, poorly thought out, self-inserts, or Mary Sue/Gary Stu's

:bulletred: How do I make my resident application?
:bulletwhite: Refer to the Resident Creation blog! There you'll find all the information and help you'll need on how to create your resident for Pokette Town, whether they be human or PKMN

:bulletred: Is there a minimum and maximum age limit for our characters?
:bulletwhite: Age 8 and up, the rest is your imagination. But please do not make a 10 year old Charizard. That just makes no sense. Go with the idea that evolution = growing up. You may choose to have the first evolution of a PKMN to be at any age. The 2nd would be closer to being a teenager (15 years) and up. Final evolutions are preferred for older or mature characters

:new::bulletred: Can I have 2 characters on a app? Twins, siblings, etc?
:bulletwhite: No. 1 character per app, per person. You may have only one application, and one character unless you purchase a secondary character slot. If you want a sibling or twin, you may either buy a secondary character, or get a friend to join and have them draw their own sibling. Any apps with 2 characters on it will be automatically rejected

:new::bulletred: Are we allowed to have a second character?
:bulletwhite: Yes! It is completely possible to purchase a secondary main character through the Town Improvement Fund blog. Please keep in mind that secondary characters will go through the same screening process as all applications do. The moderators have the right to decline a member to a second character if they have strong strikes against them for breaking group rules in the past, or for being inactive for long periods of time, multiple times. Secondary characters are a buying reward for active members

:new::bulletred: With a second character slot, can I convert one of my NPC's into a new main character?
:bulletwhite: Yes, so long as they are not the same species as your first character. We do not want members hogging the same specie slots since they are limited. Please keep in mind that NPC's becoming a secondary character will go through the same screening process as all applications do

:new::bulletred: I purchased a second character slot and made the application. What do I do now?
:bulletwhite: Note it to the group. Our moderators will review it to make sure that it meets our character creation standards, and will try to help you fix it if there is anything amiss. Once we accept it and give you the okay, you may submit your second character application to the Resident Applications 2 folder; a sub folder in the Resident Applications folder of our gallery

:bulletred: If I join the group with a friend, can we have our character histories tied together?
:bulletwhite: As long as you follow the rules, sure thing! We support creativity and you're welcome to try to join with sibling characters, cousins, family members, best friends, lovers, and so on. The more people you know, the merrier

:bulletred: Is there anything I need to know when creating a Human resident?
:bulletwhite: Just know that very few human residents will be accepted: 8 maximum. Other than that you are free to have creativity when making a human character! Please be reminded these are strictly mortal humans

:bulletred: Are there only certain kinds of Pokemon allowed?
:bulletwhite: Yes. Refer to the PKMN List blog to see what kind of PKMN you can choose. Legendary PKMN are off-limits to members, as they are Special NPC's that appear during events. Special NPC's are run by mods only

:bulletred: Do you allow Fakemon or Hybrids?
:bulletwhite: No, we do not at all. Purely PKMN from our PKMN List only. If your character has 2 different kinds of parents, they need to be made after one or the other. No hybrids/crosses

:new::bulletred: Are we allowed to create a 6th generation pokemon?
:bulletwhite: Until more information is presented, no. The Generation 6 list is currently a work in progress/unavailable until all of the new pokemon are officially released with proper information

:bulletred: A lot of Pokemon are missing from the list! Why?
:bulletwhite: Some PKMN are either too odd to be made into proper characters and remain as bugs or fish to be caught in town, while others just don't have the Animal Crossing look to fit in: meaning they don't have arms or hands. Having any other PKMN on your application sheet that is not listed will automatically be declined

:bulletred: Will you be allowing multiple kinds of the same Pokemon?
:bulletwhite: Yes. The maximum number of the same PKMN per species we will be allowing is 5

:bulletred: Why only 5 per Pokemon species?
:bulletwhite: We don't want to overcrowd the group with all the same kind of PKMN. It's boring and blands the possible variety we could have

:bulletred: Can we add piercings, markings, different colors, or tattoos to my Pokemon?
:bulletwhite: You have the right to make your PKMN resident however you want! But there is one key rule to resident design; we are not trying to make "Sparklemons" here. What's a "Sparklemon?" Check out this handy dandy example provided by ~personhead: [link]

:bulletred: My character is the Pokemon of a [insert canon character here]!
:bulletwhite: Do not do this. Any mentioning that your resident belongs to, is friends with, or knows a canon character in the PKMN universe (or any canon character outside of that) will most likely be declined. Mentioning not very important characters in the universe is alright, but nothing major like popular canons. For example: Ash Ketchum, Gary Oak, the Kimono Girls of Johto, etc.

:bulletred: Can we base our characters off of other existing characters?
:bulletwhite: Basing them off of a canon character will be dismissed, as these types of characters are considered "joke" characters.  We want believable characters and stories in this group with your own imagination involved. Basing a Farfetch'D off of Miku Hatsune for the leek joke and naming it "Miku" is not clever... it's funny, but not what we're looking for. Borrowing ideas and turning them into your own thing is fine, but making your character a shadow is not

:new::bulletred: If the pokemon I want to create is of a single gender (i.e. only female), am I allowed to make it the opposite gender?
:bulletwhite: Yes, so long as you do not get too silly or outrageous with the idea! We will allow single gender only pokemon to be the opposite gender. This only applies to certain pokemon, though! If you are truly interested in this idea, please ask first so that a moderator may give you response

:bulletred: My character is a human turned Pokemon / Pokemon turned human! Is this allowed?
:bulletwhite: No. You will be rejected instantly. This is a Animal Crossing themed group, not Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. Unless there are special circumstances that happen within the group with heavy consideration by the mods, no characters like this will be allowed

:bulletred: I don't know what a Mary Sue/Gary Stu is or I'm not too sure if my character is a Mary Sue/Gary Stu
:bulletwhite: A lot of members and mods in the group do know what these sorts of characters are. If you happen to ask for critique, we may be able to point them out. We also suggest reading the Resident Creation blog for helpful information
Not too sure what these are? To get a general idea of what we do NOT want in a character, read through this link. It applies to any sort of gendered character: [link]

:bulletred: Can I give my Pokemon resident a moveset?
:bulletwhite: We see no need for it. Though there will be official group battle tourneys in the future and move coordination contests. No violent battling between residents or pet bugs/fish. If you'd like to add that as extra information, you may

:bulletred: What if I want to change some information on my character?  Update the art? Can I do that automatically?
:bulletwhite: We prefer that you note the group asking permission, as well as what you plan to change: their nature? Are they getting a new job? Are you adding a bit to their history? So on so forth. This is to prevent the Mary Sue/Gary Stu-ing of characters. We don't like those in the group, and we'd prefer to not have you develop your character into one as well. We just like to keep track of what changes are going on
As for updating your application's art, you are welcome to do that freely without asking o long as you stick to our Resident Creation rules. We understand that maybe you have improved and would prefer to have a fresh image of your character as opposed to a old one

:bulletred: Can my character have a job or business of their own?
:bulletwhite: Yes. They may have a small business of their own either in the town (Run from their home/small building)/city, or have a job off in the city. Remember that they must run a small shop; not a major market, restaurant, etc. All jobs are for is for RP purposes. They have no other major purpose in the group

:new::bulletred: What if I want to switch my character for a new one?
:bulletwhite: If you've had your current character for 3 months total and are tired of them, then you may change only ONCE. Note the group of your current pokemon character, and that you'd like to switch to a new pokemon character with a validating reason and the new app so we may review it. A mod will look over your note and decide if it is alright to switch. If so the change will be made official. Your old resident will have moved away. This rule applies for the secondary character slots. Only 1 character switch is allowed among both

:bulletred: What if I want to evolve my character in the future?
:bulletwhite: If your character's evolution is allowed on the PKMN List, you may. You must have your current character for a minimum of 3 months. Note the group that you would like to evolve your current resident to it's next form and provide a sketch/drawing of the evolution. In order to evolve your character, there must be a slot available on the PKMN List for their next evolution. If you need a item, you must have the proper evolution item on your Special Items Sheet or buy one from the Town Improvement blog. Evolutionary items are given out as small prizes in events. If you get the okay, you may change your resident to it's next evolutionary form on your application

:bulletred: If I switch my resident do I get to keep all of my Bells and Special Items?
:bulletwhite: Yes, you do get to keep all the Bells you have earned for having them in the group (all art of past resident will have to be removed by you)
As for special items? No. You must remove your old characters' Special Items Sheet, as you cannot pass on such items to another character who has not earned them in Pokette Town through events

:bulletred: My character is in a relationship with someone. Can they get married? Have kids?
:bulletwhite: Yes. You may have your characters get married if you'd like them to and if they are of age. 18 and over. No underage marriages are allowed. PKMN-Crossing is a civilized, modern world
As for having kids? Yes, this is allowed under certain conditions: your characters must be married for a minimum of 6 months, with an agreement of your RP partner, and you must note the group asking for permission. Having a child is a big responsibility not only in real life, but in character development as well. Adopting an egg/child is also a possibility, so long as you note the group with the same guidelines as a married couple. All characters taking ownership of a baby/child NPC must be 18 and over

:pokeball: ART & SUBMISSIONS :pokeball:

:bulletred: Does the group accept traditional media? Digital media? Visual arts?
:bulletwhite: Traditional, digital, visual, it's all art and we accept it! Crayola pencils, crayons, watercolors, paint, SAI, photoshop, clay, cloth, photography, paper children... if it can be called art, it's accepted

:bulletred: I'm not a very good artist! Can I have someone else draw my character and give them credit?
:bulletwhite: Please read our Rules blog for art information
Quick answer? Absolutely NOT. All art must be done by yourself. Anyone caught lying of their art being theirs or even trying will be instantly banned

:bulletred: I drew art of a character but the user is banned from the group. Can I still submit it?
:bulletwhite: No. The users were banned for a reason and we would not like any art of them in the group folders. Please respect that decision

:pokeball: ABOUT PETS & MUSEUM DONATIONS :pokeball:

:bulletred: Can my Pokemon/Human have a pet Pokemon?
:bulletwhite: No. You yourself are playing as a PKMN anthro resident or a human living among anthros. The only kind of pets you may have are either bugs or fish PKMN, which are listed on our Bugs, Fish, and Fossils blog. Just like in the Animal Crossing series, you are allowed to decorate your home with various kinds of bugs and/or fish you caught and call them pets. Having any sort of other PKMN not on that list is not allowed

:bulletred: How many pets can my resident own? Can they evolve? Can they breed? Can they battle?
:bulletwhite: As many as you like. Just be sensible and realistic. Owning many pets equals up to a lot of responsibility
Can your pet evolve? Yes! We have some requirements though: you must make a pet on the Pet Meme sheet found in our blank memes folder and submit it to the group. To evolve your pet, you must have had it for at least 6 months (the deviation must be 6 months old in real time) and their evolution must be on the Bugs, Fish, and Fossils blog. If you have had it for that time and want to evolve it, please note the group with a link to your pet. Pets evolve through natural evolution
Pets are not allowed to breed. There are enough wild bugs and fish outside. We don't need more
Pets are not allowed to battle. They exist purely for companionship here int he group

:bulletred: How big are the bugs and fish in Pokette Town? Do I have to draw them small, or actual PKMN size?
:bulletwhite: We believe in artist interpretation. For example: if you rather have the bug PKMN to be caught by your resident the size of actual bugs in the real world, you are welcome to depict that. If you feel the bug-type PKMN should be the size they are in the PKMN games,  you are welcome to depict that. It is all about personal tastes and we support that

:bulletred: How do I donate items to the Museum?
:bulletwhite: You must draw your character obtaining the donation by fishing, catching, or digging it up! Draw your resident in a mini-comic or picture, then submit to one of the Museum Collections' subfoldesr. The bug or fish has to be on the list and in season. The fossil has to be blank/unknown so that Blathers the Hoothoot can identify it. In-season obtaining does not pertain to fossils. Once it has been acknowledge by a comment from a mod, you will be recognized on the list for your kind donation

:new::bulletred: Is there a limit on the amount of donations I may submit to the Museum?
:bulletwhite: Yes. The limit is 6 donations to the Pokette Town Museum

:bulletred: Why can I only donate 6 specimens to the Museum?
:bulletwhite: To give others the chance to participate in donating specimens. You can't hog all the glory for yourself. No matter how great of a fisherman, bug catcher, or archaeologist you are

:bulletred: If we submit a rare specimen to the museum, does it mean it's been donated successfully?
:bulletwhite: Not quite. Rare bug, fish, and fossil species that have the title next to them and submitted will be sorted by Random.org. Even numbers (2, 4, 6, etc)  mean yes, you caught the rare specimen and donated it successfully. Odd numbers (1, 3, 5, etc) means no, the rare specimen will not be accepted into the donation folder. It will be moved to the Everyday Life folder. It's a hint of luck and risk that makes submitting rare species fun

:bulletred: How will you be identifying the blank fossil Museum donations?
:bulletwhite: We will be using a Random.org to identify fossil submissions and comment with what you found. If the fossil is not in the museum, it will be added to the collection and listed as donated. If the fossil is already in the museum, your submission will be moved to the Everyday Life folder

:pokeball: ABOUT NPC'S (NON-PLAYABLE CHARACTERS) :pokeball:

:bulletred: Are we allowed to use NPC's?
:bulletwhite: Common NPC's from the NPC List or personal NPC's are allowed to be used, as well as minor ones such as a shop keeper, waiter, random folk in the city, etc. Special NPC's will be used only by mods running an event
NPC's are not second characters and do not have the character strength to change the flow or situation of a RP. They are simply background characters. Yes, you are allowed to use NPC's of your makings as well, but try to keep them to a minimum and please do not abuse them

:bulletred: Can I submit NPC's to the group that have important relations to my character?
:bulletwhite: Yes. You can make a NPC sheet, but here's the catch: you may only have 3 active major NPC's that can be submitted to the NPC Sheets subfolder. So choose wisely! There is a limit so members don't abuse NPC's and make thoughtless characters that have no reason to be interacting with anyone. Pets do not count as a NPC slot

:bulletred: Are we allowed to draw/submit NPC art?
:bulletwhite: Yes. As long as the NPC has some sort of connection to your character: friend, old teammate, family member, rival, etc. If you have NPC art that is RELATED to your character, it may be submitted to the NPC Interactions folder only. You may only submit art to this folder 3 times a week. This group is about your resident, not the NPC's that support them. Please remember that NPC's are not secondary characters

:bulletred: Does my personal NPC have to be on the PKMN List?
:bulletwhite: No. Any PKMN that is not on the official group PKMN List (except legendaries), you are welcome to use to create a supporting NPC. You may choose to use a human if your resident had a former trainer or caretaker as well

:bulletred: Can we evolve our NPC's?
:bulletwhite: No. NPC's are not secondary characters, and should not be treated as such

Umm, although the group is on hiatus, I was wondering if your pokemon is a Ghost type, could they be a ghost of a pokemon who died (Ex. Clefairy dying and reborn as a Gollette?) Just wanted to know if I made a ghost pokemon?

:iconlhumina:
Quite a few of Pokette's Ghost residents were once different Pokemon species in their former lives, actually! All we ask is to avoid making the character's death the focal point of their history. This is mostly because we want to know what the character's life (or... second life? Unlife, I guess?) is in their current form, rather than their previous one.

So, yes! Within reason, that's totally allowed. Thank you for asking first!

Oh, alright, thanks! And is the group making a new entrance app? Just wanted to know ahead of time if you don't mind..
Reply
:iconlhumina:
Possibly! To be honest, we haven't decided just yet. If we do, though, we will definitely post a news bulletin about it, and will make the new file available for download long before any actual openings take place. :)

Okay, I have to say something again. Last time I mentioned a question here was several months ago and I still really want to join this group. I know you apparently need a "recommendation" but how in the world are you supposed to get one when you literally aren't friends with ANY of the people already in the group? I understand the group is private, I have no problem with that. Will someone please give me some advice that will help me just be considered for membership. Thank you for reading.

Hello! The answer you're looking for is actually in the very first section of the group's 'Rules' journal. Here's a quick link, for the sake of convenience: [link]

It's the sixth bullet listed under 'About Joining.' :) I hope this helps!
