RESIDENT CREATION GUIDE
Not sure how to make your PKMN-Crossing application? Need to know what information you need to have? This blog is here exactly for that purpose: to help you create your Resident Application to join the group! Just head on down to read up on what you'll need to have, and how to create your human or Pokemon resident.
APPLICATION INFO
You will need to download the PKMC App folder, which you can do by clicking the thumb below (or you can go to our gallery and obtain the .PNG version)
Be sure to have something that can unzip .ZIP files. Inside the folder you will find the following:
• x1 "Fink Heavy" font (for those of you who like to have matching font on your applications. It's the Animal Crossing font)
• x1 PKMC App.jpeg file
• x1 PKMC App.psd file (for those who prefer to customize the app with different colors and stuff in photoshop)
On the app you will find that there are spaces to fill out information about your character. Here is a simple run down of what you'll see there:
• NAME: (Your character's name)
• AGE: (What age is your character?)
• BIRTHDAY: (Month and Day)
• GENDER: (Male, Female, or whichever they identify with)
• NATURE: (The nature you give your character applies to the PKMN natures in the Pokemon games. Scroll below to see what natures you can choose)
• POKEMON / HUMAN: (What PKMN your character is. If you are Human, simply write Human)
Here is the information that you will need to have in the Artist Comments of your application. Feel free to add extra areas where you see fit:
• NAME: (Your character's name)
• NICKNAME: (If your character happens to have a odd nickname others call them by, just like in the AC games)
• HOMETOWN: (This can be a town/city from the PKMN worlds, or someplace that you made up)
• HISTORY: (Give us some history on your character. Why did they move to Pokette Town? What was their life like formerly? Etc. Give us at least 1 PARAGRAPH of history: 5 lines minimum, but please do not write a long novel as well)
• HOBBY: (What does your PKMN/Human enjoy doing? Gardening? Fishing? Star gazing? Etc.)
• JOB: (Does your PKMN/Human have a job? Are they a jack-of-all-trades? Or a bum?)
• FAVORITE FOOD: (What is your PKMN/Human's favorite food?)
• FAVORITE BERRY: (What is your PKMN/Human's favorite berry? You can refer to the berry image list here: [link])
• CATCHPHRASE: (This is a little saying your PKMN may say at the end of their sentences sometimes. Just like in the Animal crossing games)
• EXTRAS: (Feel free to place extra things such as accessories, a moveset, etc.)
CHARACTER CREATION TIPS
If you have any questions about character creation, refer to the FAQ blog and read it first. If you have a question that's not answered there, ask and we will try to answer ASAP. It is a good place to get some Character Creation information
Your application must be inked, full or flat color, and have a knee-high or full body reference. We don't want to see any black and white, or sketched up, half done apps. They will be considered incomplete and automatically rejected. Take some time to make your app look really great! It is okay to do either digital or traditional media. For traditional media please crop your image cleanly onto the app
Human characters may have any look and design they like, so long as they are mortal humans. If you played Animal Crossing, you know how it works
All residents must wear some sort of clothing: pokemon or human. Anthros have every right to wear whatever they like as much as human characters. Like in Animal Crossing, all residents have their own clothing style. The only exception we'll make to Pokemon that can't wear clothes are Pokemon that have their face attached to their body with no real neck structure. Examples are Poliwhirl, Jigglypuff, Spheal, etc. In this case they will be allowed to wear scarves or accessories, but try your best to turn them into anthros
Want to know what Pokemon you can choose to make into a resident? Head over to the PKMN List blog to see what Pokemon there are. Please note that a lot of pokemon will be missing from the list: this is because they are either too odd to be made into anthros and will remain as fish and bugs you can catch in town, or because they do not fit in with the Animal Crossing character look. If the character you have on your application is not from the list, it will be declined automatically
Your Pokemon resident may be any color you like! Original, shiny, or any other crazy colors you can think of! Just no "sparklemons" please. See the next inquiry below as to what "sparklemon" are, or check the FAQ blog for more information
Please don't try to create outrageous "sparklemon." We screen and look over every application to make sure they meet the groups wanted standards of character creation
Try not to stick your character to a major stereotype. They eventually grow boring and uncreative. They could be used as a base, but we don't want a bunch of the same sort of people in town. All people are different! Similarities may be the same, but differences is what makes them unique! Put some thought into your character and try to make them different. What separates them from everyone else? Stretch your imagination and make them believable
It's okay to have some dramatic story to your character, but don't be a drama llama in-character for the angst factor or create unbelievable Mary Sues/Gary Stus. Not everyone in Animal crossing is gorgeous, famous, rich, talented at everything, etc. What's so great about having a character that can do everything and anything? Not much. Don't know what a Mary Sue/Gary Stu is? Look at this helpful link here: [link]
We recommend not creating "self-insert" characters. This goes to show how uncreative you might be in trying to create a resident. It's alright to model your resident after some of your personality or looks, but it's just preferred that you do not create a self-insert. We're not saying all self-inserts are bad, but they just usually end up in bad places and will generally be frowned upon/declined
Do not base your character after a canon popular character (example: Ash Ketchum, Gary Oak, Miku Hatsune etc.) or claim they are somehow related, friends with this character, and so on. Basing them off of a canon character will be dismissed, as these types of characters are considered "joke" characters. We want believable characters and stories in this group with your own imagination involved. Basing a Farfetch'D off of Miku Hatsune for the leek joke and naming it "Miku" is not clever... it's funny, but not what we're looking for. Borrowing ideas and turning them into your own thing is fine, but making your character a shadow is not
Promote character development! Don't just let them sit and the mud twiddling a stick all day, or claim no one wants to role play with you when you haven't bothered to try and put them out there. Get out there into the chats, role play, get a feel for them and figure out what they're like. People change: for better or worst. Maybe your character conquers a fear, or gains a new one. They'll make friends and enemies alike. Random RP's are nice, but don't always fall back on those. Try to give some planned plot for your character in the future to make things fun for yourself and other members
If you're still having trouble in trying to create or develop a character, we suggest reading these handy dandy Character Creation guides! They're very clear and really make you think about how you would like to go about making and expanding your resident for the future: [link] [link]
When writing up your characters' history, please do NOT state that they have already moved or are currently in Pokette Town! Your application will be instantly rejected. How can your resident be a part of Pokette Town if you have not been accepted into the group as a member? Hence you are not a resident yet. If anything, they may have heard of it, should be traveling there, or checking out the town

If you are creating a secondary main character after purchasing a extra character slot, please make your new character a different species of Pokemon! We don't want people hogging the same species is all, since the amount per kind allowed is limited. Try to keep your mind open to new options! there are plenty of pokemon to choose from after all
